First some background...
I have just setup a pfSense VM (ESXi 5.5) to replace an old IPCop router/fw. The IPCop is used fro normal Internet access and also as endpoint of an IPSec tunnel between two offices.The IPCop also pass through PPTP VPN into a Win2012 server on the inside.
The pfSense that is going to replace the IPCop has two interfaces, WAN and LAN. The NICs are both using VMXNET2 drivers (required for the PPTP pass through on ESXi 5.5).
Now to my question:
I can get the pfSense router to act exactly like the IPCop does... but,only for a short time before the router become unresponsive.
The initial time the device worked was ~10 min. I then did some research and found that MBUF may be the culprit. The max value was set to 25600 which I increased to 65536. After increasing the MBUF max value it took ~1 h until the router became...
