So my PFsense friends here on Spiceworks. I have possibly a simple question. Everywhere I look I find that people will by a dual port NIC to run as the WAN and LAN. Everyone seems to not use the onboard NIC even if it is Intel.
Is if frowned upon to use the onboard NIC for WAN or LAN? Is there a security issue?
I am moving PFsense off of my Hyper-V server and onto its own dedicated machine. I was looking to use the onboard NIC as the WAN and order a dual port NIC and run one port to LAN wired connections and one port the LAN wireless connections. But I cannot find specific answer about using the onboard NIC.
