Hello all, I have what seems like a simple LAGG question but I guess we will find out.
I have a pfSense router running on a desktop machine. It has the single onboard port and a dual port card as well. The onboard is my WAN and the dual port I was thinking of using LAGG on.
This LAGG connection goes to a Quanta LB4M managed switch. I have to enable LACP for each port and then configure port channels for the actual protocol to work.
My question is on the options under pfSense. There is LACP, Failover, Load Balance, and Round Robin. I understand the LACP protocol and Load Balancing protocol. I want to know if the Failover uses something close to the LACP protocol. If I set up LACP on the switch, will the Failover protocol on pfSense communicate with that or does the switch also have to have a specific failover option?
