Never having set up a firewall from scratch before, like a fool I decided to jump head-first into pfSense at home. Yay!
However, I can hear you groaning already from behind your monitor. Yeah, I smooshed my nose pretty good on that wall, thanks to my naivety and ignorance.
I spent an entire afternoon manually setting up my little rack pfSense appliance, getting PFBlockerNG and snort installed and configured with the help of several YouTube videos, and generally getting things to my liking. I used a laptop attached to the appliance on the LAN port to accomplish all changes, which I theorize is where my problems probably started - I didn't have it hooked to WAN for most of my configuration.
Issues started to rear their ugly heads when I physically installed the appliance into my rack and wired it into the network - everything went...
