The title says it all. Small VLAN, non-AD workgroup, DHCP and DNS forwarding via a pfSense firewall. Windows workstations can ping and browse each other and the Linux workstations by hostname. The Linux workstations must use IP address or add the devices to the Hosts file (not practical, there are too many of them). Error is "Temporary failure in name resolution".
All workstations can resolve outside of the firewall just fine, so at least the forwarder is working.
The Linux workstations are all Debian Bullseye. Some have a stripped-down Gnome DE. Some have no DE at all. All of them are Hyper-V VMs.
More config details upon request.
I feel like I'm missing something obvious and foolish on such a simple config. Any ideas?
TIA,
