pfSense transparent firewall setup guide

I spent a few hours yesterday trying to get pfSense configured as a transparent firewall in a VM. The attached guide finally came to the rescue. What's not clarified by the guide is that there is a default "deny all" policy. When you can't get any traffic to pass, make sure you've whitelisted devices/networks/ports appropriately and enable logging on all of your firewall rules. Then take a look at the logs to see where the hangups are. It would be convenient to know how to disable the default deny all policy while you're setting it up, so you know the bridge is at least working!
