Hi there,

I’m a bit of a noob so excuse my simple and nontechnical explanations.

MY CURRENT SETUP: I have internet only service with Spectrum cable modem, pfSense running as a Router and NetGear R8000 Nighthawk in AP mode for wireless access.

Spectrum Modem pfSense LAN PORT NetGear POE switch AND the pfSense WIRELESS PORT NetGear NightHawk WAN port.

PROBLEM: I was able to successfully get the pfSense to become the router and I setup the Nighthawk to act as a wireless AP only. The issue I’m running into is that I want to assign different set of IP addresses for the ethernet connections vs those for wireless clients. For example, for pfSense I want to use 192.168.1.XXX for wired connections and for the NighHawk I want to use a 192.168.5.XXX so I can separate the LAN and WIRELESS connections.

Here is my interface assignments on pfSense:
